ARMY WELFARE SERVICE – PERSONAL SUPPORT

The Army Welfare Service (AWS) Personal Support Team is the Army’s professional welfare provider offering a comprehensive, confidential and specialised service.
AWS is the secondary level of welfare support available to serving soldiers and their families when difficulties cannot be dealt with, or must not be dealt with, within the Unit. Trained Army Welfare Workers offer support, advice and guidance to those who are experiencing personal or family difficulties. This covers a wide range of situations including :-

  • Difficulties arising from personal relationships
  • Separation
  • Inability to cope – stress / crisis
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Social issues arising from mental and physical ill health
  • Problems arising from deployment
  • Supporting families who are working with statutory agencies

An Army Welfare Service office is based within Dreghorn Barracks, Edinburgh, which covers all south and central Scotland

The Children’s Education Advisory Service (CEAS) support the MOD’s Directorate Children & Young People (DCYP) and work with the Service community, other government departments, local authorities, representatives of the boarding sector and schools to try and achieve strategic solutions to issues around the education of Service children.
CEAS has a Parent Support Officer, Donna McCartney, based in Scotland to advise and support Service families within Scotland on educational issues for their families. The Parent Support Officer can support with individual cases and offer information and advice about access to education within Scotland.

Carillion Complaints Helpline

Change to existing service - From 1st March, CarillionAmey, are changing their opening times for their complaints and compliments call line, the 0800 707 6000 option 5 number, at the Helpdesk.  On the Option 5 service, calls will now be answered between 0830hrs to 1700hrs.  CarillionAmey want to make sure that families who have raised complaints receive clearer responses and in order to do this we need our complaints handlers to spend quality time looking into each complaint to provide more informed responses to each customer. This change is intended to improve our customer service to you, our customers.
